We went to a winter wear shop yesterday and my parents made me try all sorts of jackets. I may be just a little kid but even I do know that there is no winter in Singapore so I don't understand why they are making me try all these winter clothes which are so uncomfortable!!!

After picking Ayah up from work today, we went to Vivo city. Finally! Since Ayah hadn't eaten dinner, he suggested we try out this place called "The Chicken Rice Shop". The food there was good and we really loved their kueh pai tee. The price was reasonable too. What caught my attention was the decor of the shop- everything was in red and yellow...

including the child seat.
After dinner, we walked around Vivo city and we bumped into Uncle Eruwin, Emak's friend whom she hasn't met for almost 3 years. He has his own PR firm now and he was in charge of the launch of this boutique called Ted Baker.

Next stop was Toys R Us. Emak was visibly disappointed that it is not as big as she expected it to be and to make matters worse, it didn't have what she wanted to buy for me so she insisted that Ayah drive all of us to the one at Forum.

What was it that Emak wanted to buy for me?

Yeah. This "grand piano". Click the video above to watch my performance. Hehe.

We left the house at slightly after 8pm today with the intention of checking out Vivo City but Emak realised that the car was out of petrol so we went to the petrol station for a refill but there was a long queue as there was something wrong with their computer system! By the time we were done, it was almost 9pm so Ayah suggested that we abort the idea.

We ended up at the 24 hr Swensen's in town instead and since I was such a good girl, the restaurant manager gave me a balloon!

We left the house early this morning to Neo Tiew Rd to buy some vegetables at Green Circle Organic Farm but when we reached there, we were totally disappointed as there was nobody at the farm and it didn't look like an interesting place at all, contrary to what Emak had read in one of those tourist brochures.

Since it was already close to lunch time, we decided to have our lunch at Poison Ivy which was just down the road.

I was quite put off by this thing initially and refused to touch it when I first saw it. Ayah saif it's call jantung hati but I'm not sure what exactly it is. Can it be eaten???
For lunch, we had banana curry, teriyaki chicken, angled winged beans with sambal belacan and Aloe Vera drinks. According to the menu, aleo vera contains antioxidants and is thus good for the body. We overheard the lady owner telling someone that if you get bitten by a mosquito, just rub the aleo vera on the bite and you can also rub it on wounds. Very effective, it seems.
As they didn't have any child seats, I had to sit on a real adult chair. Does that make me an adult? But then again, I'm still using a kiddie bowl.
After lunch, Ayah drove us all the way to the Air Force Museum at Paya Lebar only to discover that the place is undergoing renovation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *&^%%*&^!!!!
We gave Ayah a birthday treat last night, at Simply Peranakan Cuisine, the one located at Malay Village. It was our way of showing support to Uncle Eddy, the owner of the restaurant. The food was really good and even the critical Nenek was full of praises. They have other outlets at Esplanade, Turf City and Serangoon Garden but the one at Malay Village is the only halal outlet that they have.

I was trying to catch a fish for Ayah but they were really too high for me. Wait till I'm taller!

Ayah, Emak and I would like to wish you a happy 34th birthday and may we be happy always. We love you, Ayah!

P.S And also, a very happy birthday to Ayah's twin sister, Mummy!

Yesterday, I went to the number 9 and went "naaahne" and now my parents think the number 9 is my favourite number!!!

I don't really know the meaning of Hari Raya but I sure do like it as I get to taste fizzy drinks and eat food that Emak normally won't let me.

I had ketupat for breakfast today and I loved it!
And Mama let me drink F&N Orange when we were at Nyai's place so much so I just sat on Mama's lap for very long and kept coming back to her for the drink.
Bik Ila had a hard time trying to get me and Dina to take a picture together but the both of us simply refused to pose for the camera. Haha!
After Nyai's place, we went to visit Yai Mat who every year, without fail, will bakar satay for the whole gang.
Ayah and the uncles and cousins.
The girls and I ! I'm no longer the youngest of them all now that there's Dina and Anaqi but I'm still Nyai's youngest grandchild, number 15.

All that eating and visiting made me so tired I fell asleep the moment Ayah put me in my car seat!
Since everyone was tired preparing for Hari Raya, I decided to be a good girl on the eve of Raya and do some housework. Nowadays, I love to say the word "yay" but I pronounce it as "yeah" instead, the way Ayah says it sometimes. So when I managed to switch on the vacuum cleaner, I made sure I gave a loud "yeah"! Click below to watch the video.

To all my Muslim friends and relatives and especially to my fellow Bambinos , our whole family would like to wish you Selamat Hari Raya Adilfitri.

About a week ago, Emak and Ayah went to Geylang Bazaar and they bought me these outfits. Emak tried to make me pose in them but I simply refused to look at the camera.
Bollywood princess?

Kebaya princess?

Emak has been very sick. She had a terrible flu and body ache on Friday. She was much better on Saturday but on Sunday, she woke up in the middle of the night with an excruciating pain in her throat and her entire body was aching. She said she felt as if there was a ball bearing stuck in her throat and she was spitting out very thick, green phlegm. Yucks! On Monday morning, she woke up to discover that she had lost her voice! Ayah made an appointment for her to see the ENT doctor at the hospital and she was told that she's got an extremely bad infection! When Emak is sick, she gets whiny but this time round, she can't whine as she's got no voice! But Ayah and I had to massage her yesterday as she said her body was aching terribly. I hope Emak gets well soon!

Emak bumped into her ex-colleague recently and when the lady saw us, the first thing she said was "EH EH MUKA SAMA MUKA SAMA!!!" and she just went on about how both of us look exactly the same. It came as quite a shock to Emak because nobody has reacted that strongly before so when we reached home, she put my picture next to her wedding picture on the wall and she realised that lady was right! MUKA SAMA!

It's been 2 days since my birthday and still, there is no birthday bash for me, unlike last year when my parents booked the 2nd floor of Hard Rock Cafe , complete with a clown. This year, they didn't even bother to give me a present. Come to think of it, they didn't get me a present last year too. Nenek wished me happy bithday for the second time today, gave me $100 and told me to get myself a nice dress from Polo Ralph Lauren. But my parents just kept quiet and didn't mention anything about getting me a present! Harlow???!!!

Auntie Mas sms-ed Emak to ask if we are going to have a birthday party and Emak said NO. Why??? I suspect it is the fault of His Excellency, The Ayah.

I've been having lots of fun going on piggyback rides with Uncle Larry as my piggy! I will insist that he runs around the entire house with me on his back because it's so much fun. Of course Uncle Larry can't say the same as, at 12.2kg, I'm definitely not light!

Dear Uncle Man,

I'm going to tell you a secret. Nenek bought you a birthday present. It's a blue and white striped Zara shirt. It cost her $99 and she is going to get Emak to pass it to Auntie Sandra. Uncle Man, I heard from Nenek that you'll be going to London. Can I come along, PLEASE? I want to take a ride on the London Eye. PLEASE!

Love,
Tata

We're learning about opposites in school this week and I really liked the "float" and "sink" segment we had.

I also celebrated my birthday with my classmates during snack time. Everyone enjoyed the cake that Bik Rozana baked and the stars that Mummy made for me!

If you look carefully at the cake, you can see a mini-me on it. Bik Rozana is so talented, isn't she? Everyone loved what Bik Rozana and Mummy made. Check out their other cakes and biscuits at petitbizkit.multiply.com

Emak wants me to be able to speak Mandarin well and in her attempt to do so, she has bought me a collection of colourful Chinese books and on the cover of each book, it says "Learning Chinese is fun." Yeah, learning charnese is fun!

Sunday, October 08, 2006

Auntie Sandra came to visit Nenek today and she brought with her a package from HANG KANG. Yes! It's an early birthday present from Uncle Man. Thank you, Uncle Man! I also heard from Emak that you're planning to buy me a pair of Air Jordan, to add to my growing collection of shoes. Yay! That will be my 5th pair of Nike shoes!

I'm unwell again. I've been having diarrhoea for the past 3 days and last night, I started sneezing. Nenek thinks it's because I've been eating too much organic broccoli. Nenek also thinks Emak is wasting money by buying me organic food but hey, isn't organic food supposed to be GOOD? Why are Nenek and Emak always disagreeing on so many issues? To reassure herself, Emak asked Ayah if she is wasting his money by buying all those organic food and His Excellency, THE AYAH, said YES! I suspect he regretted saying that as he knew it could get him into trouble so he quickly told her that she can continue buying organic food for me but I don't really need to eat 100% organic. Ah, Ayah! That's more like it cos there's no point getting into trouble with Emak, you know.Haha!

OK, back to the diarrhoea story. I woke up at 4am this morning to poo. Emak hates it when I poo because the smell is overbearing! My parents thought I would be alright soon but when I poo-ed again, twice! , in the morning, Emak quickly called RH to make an appointment for me to see Dr Toh. According to Dr Toh, I'm having low grade stomach upset and the flu is linked to it. Dr Toh also said that organic food is good.Heard that Ayah and Nenek??

But the bad news is, Dr Toh is quite concerned about my hyperactivity and has advised my parents to take me to a psychologist - to test for autism and ADHD. Boo hoo hoo. She said they can either take me for an assessment now or wait till I'm 2 1/2. My parents haven't decided what to do yet and they are giving themselves a bit more time before making a decision. Sigh.

While waiting for Nenek to finish terawih-ing just now, we went book shopping.

I got myself this book. The Wheels on the bus is one of my favourite songs and each time I hear it, I will dance to the beat and do all the actions - round and round, up and down, beep beep beep, etc.
Ayah bought the thick "updated and expanded" version of this one.
And Emak bought this. She has "Tuesdays with Morrie" but she can't remember where she has placed it. She can't remember if she has read "The five people you meet in heaven" but this new Mitch Albom book sounds interesting. "For one more day will make you smile. It will make you wistful. It will make you blink back tears of nostalgia. But most of all, it will make you believe in the eternal power of a mother's love." - James McBride

Actually, Emak bought this book for Uncle Man. It's his birthday soon and Emak thought this will be a book he might want to read BUT being the cheapo that she is, she is going to read it first before she ships it to Hong Kong. Haha! In fact, she won't even bother shipping it cos she sms-ed Auntie Sandra after buying this book and she's going to get Auntie Sandra to do it for her. Haha!

Emak went to check out another organic shop yesterday and she was very pleased because she finally found the organic tofu and organic grapes she has been looking for. This place is at 619H Bukit Timah Road. It looks like a normal grocery shop but they have lots of stuff there! Finally!
At night, Ayah drove us to Kampong Glam as Emak wanted to check out the lights and the bazaar but we were truly disappointed.
The lights were really nothing to wow about but the bazaar was a greater disappointment.

Today, Emak decided to teach me a thing or two about my ancestors and after Ayah came back from work, the whole family went to Chinatown. Believe it or not, Emak actually made me wear a red cheongsam!

The lights were impressive! "This year's street light-up is by far the largest and most extensive. This month-long street light-up will run from 23 September to 15 October and will feature brightly coloured lanterns and impressive decorations based on the legendary Mid-Autumn Festival story of Chang Er, or the Lady of the Moon, who floated to the moon after swallowing her husband's elixir of eternal life. " - extracted from www.singaporesights.com

There she is! The Lady of the Moon.
Ayah forgot my Crocs so I ended up wearing a cheongsam with track shoes but luckily we spotted a pair of ladylike slippers at a shop right next to the parking lot and Emak bought a pair for me.

It was my first time at Chinatown and I really enjoyed walking around. It was an interesting place indeed and of course I requested for a lantern. My parents ended up buying two lanterns for me as I broke the handle of the first one 10 mins after they bought it.
Emak bought me an umbrella too!

After walking around with my lantern for close to half an hour, I felt exhausted and took a break.

Our next stop was Tekka and my, the lights were awesome!

We unanimously voted the Deepavali lights the best!
After all that walking and "light watching", we got so tired we went to get some food at Banana Leaf.

As Ayah was on leave yesterday, we went out to do some shopping. First stop Ikea - to get me a bookshelf as 2 shelves are not enough for me so they bought me 2 more. Ikea was so crowded even though it was a weekday. It seemed as though the whole world was there! Don't those people have to work? Maybe they're all on leave too.

After Ikea, we went to Jalan Merah Saga to check out Bunalun, another organic shop. Emak wants to check out as many organic shops as possible and she's been looking for organic tofu to no avail. Bunalun is a very nice place. Very cosy, very organised and the products look very presentable. Some of the products are cheaper than the one we went to last weekend- the avocado especially. They don't charge by weight here by by per piece so 1 avocado is selling for $2.70.
They have spices, chilli, etc on these shelves.
Quite a variety of fruits but no grapes!
The way their products are arranged are very pleasing to the eyes and they have helpful and friendly staff too!

The next time Ayah is free, we're going to check out some other organic shops.
