I attended my first Seimpi class with a new teacher today. Ayah convinced Emak to get me a new teacher as he had issues with the previous one. I like the new teacher and I surprised Emak by doing every single activity the teacher told me to do. Yes,for the first time ever, I actually did every single activity and did them all by myself! Something funny happened in class, though. I have a classmate named Khairul. For one of the activities, we were supposed to hold our classmates' hands or our parents' hands and get them to dance with us but I insisted on holding Khairul's dad's hand and I insisted that he dance with me and I refused to let go of his hand! Hahaha!

In the afternoon, we went to Nyai's place to collect some presents we got Mak Nyai to make for us.

This is an album Mak Nyai made.
These are for Auntie Woon Sin and Auntie Is. There is another thing called the nappy hanger but it's not ready yet.

While we were at Nyai's, Ayah kept whining in pain because a wardrobe door fell on his foot earlier in the day. Emak couldn't stand the incessant whining and we took Ayah to the A&E at RH. When we were there, we bumped into a nurse from the Children's Centre who was shocked to see me there and kept asking me if I was alright! Haha!

Kesian Ayah. I decided to comfort Ayah while we were outside the doctor's room.
The doctor referred Ayah to an orthopaedic surgeon after taking an X-ray of Ayah's foot.

We went to Arab Street in the afternoon as Nenek wanted to buy some scarves but she didn't like any of those she saw. Since we were around the area, Emak drove to RH to buy a bottle of vitamins for Nenek and what did we see at the pharmacy? Crocs shoes!!! And Nenek, being the nice nenek that she is, bought me a pair of Crocs! Emak said it was such a good deal- she bought Nenek a bottle of vitamins that cost $25 and Nenek bought me a pair of Crocs that cost twice that price! Muahahaha.
At night, Ayah went to play golf at the cc and after that, we went to the cafe there for some drinks.
Look at me scrutinising the menu.
Before we left, I stopped to smell the errr.. orchids.

I've been dressing myself up independently and I have no problems with skirts and anything easy but when it comes to dresses with zippers at the back, I simply don't succeed....
Emak is sooo angry with me. Now, this was what happened. Emak realised yesterday that we were running out of milk powder so she went to the supermarket to buy some for me. BUT! She went to a zillion NTUC and Cold Storage supermarkets and Enfagrow was out of stock everywhere!!! Yes, believe it or not, my Enfagrow was out of stock! So Emak thought that any milk powder would do because she figured they all probably taste the same anyway and she bought me Gain IQ.

Early this morning, when I was given that Gain IQ milk, I rejected it. Yes, I simply refused to drink it and threw my milk bottle away. So again, Emak went out on an Enfagrow hunt and STILL there was none available. She decided to buy Enfapro since that was what I was drinking before I switched to Enfagrow. Before I went to bed at night, Nenek made me a bottle of milk using that Enfapro milk powder and I refused to drink it!!!! In the end, Emak and Ayah had to go to Mustafa at close to midnight to search for Enfagrow. Thank goodness they found it. But Emak is furious because she said I had wasted so much of her money on that Enfapro and Gain IQ and that I have become so choosy and fussy.

Last night, I woke up at 2am and started babbling and dancing on Nenek's bed. Then, I went knocking on my parents' room. just to disturb their sleep, before running off to Nenek's bed to continue my dance routine. Emak came to Nenek's room to take a look and the moment I saw her, I quickly pretended I was asleep! Then I slowly opened my eyes to check if she was still there andwhen I saw her standing there staring at me, I waved goodbye and gestured for her to go away. The minute she walked away, I got up and started dancing again and when she turned around, I quickly hit the bed and pretended to sleep. This happened a couple of times until Emak gave up and went back to sleep.

My dearest Ayah, as usual, did not comment much. He just said that I'm becoming more and more like Emak each day, full of drama and idiosyncracies.

Speaking of drama, my parents have enrolled me in a drama school. More about that after my first lesson next week.

Last night, I wanted Emak to help me open a container. I went up to her and said "help".OK, I said "hep", not "help" but Emak was very surprised because she has never taught me how to use that word and I voluntarily used the word, instead of being asked to say it.

Emak said if I show further improvements, she will consider not taking me back to the speech therapist. Yay!
Emak went out for lunch with Ayah today, WITHOUT me! I think she must have felt guilty about leaving me at home because while waiting for Ayah to knock off from work, she went shopping and bought so many things for me and nothing for herself. She bought me a golf set, a fishing set, a play kitchen set, a roller coaster set, an interactive book and some puzzles. She also bought me tonnes of organic food and for spending so much at the shop, they gave her a discount card. Emak must have been influenced by Auntie Prema who only feeds her kids organic food. According to Emak, from now on, I must eat organic as much as possible!

In the evening, we went to play golf.Well, not we, but just Ayah. I, too, wanted to participate in the game and kept placing the balls elsewhere so in the end, Emak had to take me away and we went to the playground while waiting for Ayah to finish the game.

After that, we went to the Night Safari...for dinner. Ayah and I took a picture with the Dayaks who put up some aboriginal performance but Emak dearest accidentally deleted ALL pictures taken yesterday while she was checking the camera this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the way home, Ayah said something funny. He said and I quote - "I think if I were to apply to be one of those Dayaks they will probably say - no, there are no fat Dayaks.Try the Japanese Garden instead, they might need sumo wrestlers." MUAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

My parents wanted me to try pony riding so we went to Gallop Stable this morning but I was too scared to even get near it and hence, there were no rides for me. Sorry, Emak and Ayah, for disappointing you. But I heard that they are not giving up and will be taking me there more often to get me used to the idea.
Ayah said the animal is so shameless because it didn't bother to put on any underwear! Check it out!
We saw two sisters having a lesson with the trainers. They looked so cool!
On the way back to the car, we came across horse pooh! Yucks!
After the non-experience with the horses, my parents took me to the Kids's Kampong so that I could try my hand at FISHING!

Apart from fish, there were also ducks and rabbits and some other pets there. Initially, we bought two packets of fish food but after seeing how hungry the fish were, Emak just kept buying more and more fish food. Ayah said these people are very smart as they make you pay money to feed THEIR fish.
Those hungry fish came swimming fast and furious to Ayah as they knew he was going to feed them.
There was also a corner called "Rod Fishing'. Ayah and I tried to catch a fish but it was Emak who managed to catch one! For that, she won a prize - a fighting fish!

This kid managed to catch a big fish! Lucky him!

I was quite scared of putting my hands in the pond at first....

but after a while, I became very brave and tried to catch a fish with my bare hands!

I was having so much fun I refused to leave the place. When Ayah told me it was time to go home, I cried and screamed and put up a struggle and had to be forcefully carried away. And where did we go after that? Lunch at Fish& Co! Hahaha!

Friday, August 25, 2006

I did something funny just now. I took my bath towel, folded it so that it looked smaller, placed it on Emak's head and said "hat". Emak found it so hilarious she couldn't stop laughing cos she really didn't see it coming!

Thursday, August 24, 2006

My parents FINALLY bought me a high chair. Long overdue, I must say. But they are stingy people and they wanted the cheapest possible high chair and Ayah saw one that met his criteria at Plaza Sing yesterday and since yesterday, it's been independent eating sessions for me! Hooray!

Today I annoyed Ayah and he scolded me until I cried. As a form of apology, I walked to Ayah and in the sweetest voice, I said "ayah" , before I gave him a hug and Ayah's anger immediately disappeared. Haha!

Wednesday, August 23, 2006

We went for a walk today because Emak wanted to check out the Jacob Ballas Children's Garden. Ayah told her that it is still not open to the public as they have not finished renovating the area but Emakinsisted that it was. And guess what? Ayah was right!

On the way to the garden, I pointed at every tree I saw and referred to them as SHARK !!!

Dear Uncle Man,

I think I miss you ... because every now and then, I would go to that corner of the living room and stare at this picture.....

Sunday, August 20, 2006

Today was sleep-in day. I was unwell, Emak was unwell and we both fell asleep after taking medication. We must have been really drowsy because we only got up at 6:30 PM! We missed Auntie Huda's wedding and Tien Hsia! Emak got scolded by Nenek because she said Emak always makes me "ponteng sekolah" but we were sick! Sick people shouldn't be going to school, RIGHT?

Saturday, August 19, 2006

Ayah had to attend a meeting early this morning at some hotel in town so while waiting for him, I had a hearty breakfast. But I was still sleepy because I woke up very early and so, while eating, I fell asleep!

Once Ayah was done, we went to Forum because Emak wanted to buy me a dress but we got a shock when we discovered that the boutique was closed for renovation! So up to Toys R Us we went, with the intention of buying me a kitchen set. Nenek said Emak should get me toys which encourage pretend play so that I would be more willing to speak. We saw the kitchen set BUT we also saw a nicer, more expensive one and my parents could not decide which one to get! The Little Tikes one is really nice and Nenek said that Uncle Man and Uncle Larry will get it for me as a bithday present if I want it but I honestly am not sure if it is worth the money. 80 versus 400. Is it really worth it???

The Cheap one

The expensive one

After spending so much time deciding, my parents got me something totally different!

My new keyboard and guitar, which comes complete with a microphone and karaoke functions!

We wanted to check out the Air Force Museum after that but we could not find it at all! Emak told Ayah that it was located at Cramwell Road, off Loyang Ave and Ayah drove around the area for an hour and still could not find it. In the end, we gave up and went to Nyai's house. When we reached home, Emak told Ayah that she had forgotten that the museum had been relocated to Seletar!!!

Thursday, August 17, 2006

Emak taught me a new word yesterday and the word is, "START". She taught me to use that word each time I want her to switch on the computer. I was so proud of this new word I learnt that I went to Nenek and Uncle Larry and shouted the word "start" into their faces several times, before clapping my hands and laughing! Hehe.

Tuesday, August 15, 2006

I am so upset!!! I badly want to watch that Eric Carle's play on the Hungry Caterpillar but when Emak called the Sistic Hotline, she was told that ALL tickets for ALL performances have been sold out!!!

Saturday, August 12, 2006

We took a short cruise to catch the fireworks today. Lucky thing my parents bought the tickets last week, otherwise we would not have gotten any. It was a Chinese junk and we were each given a party pack. I must have been so mesmerized by the fireworks because at the end of it all, I clapped my hands and shouted "yay"!

Day 4 - Victoria Peak + Stanley Market + Repulse Bay

Uncle Man e-mailed Emak from Indonesia to tell her that she MUST take me to Victoria Peak. On Emak's previous trip to HK, she went to Victoria Peak but she did not take the tram so this time round, my parents decided to take me on the tram although they initially had no intention of going up Victoria Peak.

Before we went to Victoria Peak, we dropped by Uncle Man's office to leave him a present we got him before he left Singapore but he could not carry it with him the other time as his luggage was full. After that, we started the climb up the peak and I really pitied Ayah as he had to carry me all the way up the steep slope.I wanted to walk on my own but my parents felt that if they allowed me to do that, I would take my own sweet time and they did not have the patience to wait.

Victoria Peak was ok. No big deal. Still don't understand why Uncle Man said it's a "must see". On the way down the peak, Emak felt sick as the tram was moving backwards and the slope was really so steep. She said she felt as if someone was pulling a rope in her throat! I think I must have felt sick too because I suddenly sat quietly next to Ayah, sucking my thumb.

After we left Victoria Peak, we took an open top bus around the CBD before taking a Citybus to Stanley Market.

Nenek had been talking about Stanley Market so we thought there was no harm checking it out. On the way to Stanley Market, we also dropped by Repulse Bay, which is supposedly Hong Kong's nicest beach.

We headed back to the hotel after that and waited for the airport transfer which was 20 minutes late! At the airport, I clapped my hands and shouted "yay" when we reached the immigration counter. Emak was stopped by security officers, though, and they politely requested that she allowed them to deflate the Mickey Mouse balloon she was carrying and she was so disappointed about the whole thing.

On the whole, we love Hong Kong and would certainly want to visit it again.

Day 3 - Ocean Park + Snoopy's World + Ladies' Market

We left the hotel early today for breakfast at McDonald's. I had some hotcakes and I took so long to finish them.

Once again, Emak decided against joining a tour group and we went to Ocean Park on our own. There was a special bus that took us there and I was very excited as I got on the bus as it was my first time on a double decker bus so I was very "jakun".

It wasn't a very long journey but we had to cut through mountains to get to Ocean Park. Ocean Park itself is located on a mountain and consists of a lowland and and a highland and the two lands are connected by cable cars.

Once again, it was typhoon number 1 so there were signs all over to keep people informed.

After Ocean Park, we took a train to this place called Sha Tin as Emak wanted to check out Snoopy's World. It is the first Snoopy outdoor playground in Asia and second in the world. It is located at a shopping centre called New Town and we were shocked at how crowded the shopping centre was! It was like Tampines Mall on a Sunday, multiplied by 5!

We left that New Town place after about an hour and took an MTR to Mongkok, to check out the famous Ladies' Market. By then, Ayah was tired from carrying me and as Emak hates shopping, we didn't stay long at the Ladies' Market.

It was a very tiring day and the minute we reached the hotel, we all fell asleep straight away.

Day 2- Disneyland

Emak decided not to join a tour but to figure out on her own how to get to Disneyland. It was a good thing she did as that saved us SGD$70. The "exclusive train" that took us to Disneyland was so cute. Check it out!

We were told by the lady at the ticket counter that it was Typhoon Signal Number 1 today and so we thought there was going to be strong wind and all but there was nothing of that sort. In fact, it was a very hot day, except for the rain that lasted no more than an hour.

We went to all the various "lands" and took some very interesting rides, one of which was the "Winnie The Pooh story" but we couldn't take any pictures as the camera's battery went dead and Ayah did not bring its charger. Sigh. AND Ayah did not save any of the videos which Emak took!!!!! She took many clips of the parade but Ayah didn't save a single one!!!! Actually Ayah was not too keen on Disneyland HK at first, but now he wants us to go there again at the end of this year!

Emak was so nice. She bought me a Mickey Mouse balloon..

and a Minnie Mouse umbrella.

We visited Tarzan's treetop house and took a cruise around his territory.

Some Disney pictures

The Souvenir Shop

Disney on Parade
DISNEYLAND WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
BUT EMAK IS EXTREMELY ANGRY WITH AYAH BECAUSE HE DIDN'T SAVE A SINGLE VIDEO THAT SHE TOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was very well-behaved on the plane today. My parents were rather apprehensive initially as they remembered how I cried during take off and touch down on my first plane ride last year. This time round, I cried for a total of 10 minutes out of the 4 hr journey and that was because my ears hurt at one point of the journey. Other than that, I enjoyed the ride. There were some kids my age and some babies on the plane as well and none of them cried at all so it would have been embarrassing if I had! Peer pressure!

We touched down at around 7:30pm and headed straight to the hotel. Uncle Man was supposed to meet us at our hotel after he knocked off from work but we waited and waited and he didn't turn up. At 2am, he called Emak to tell her that he had just knocked off from work and he was informed earlier that he has to fly to Indonesia this morning. There goes his plan of visiting me every day after work. Anyway, he told Emak to wake him up at 6am this morning so that he could visit me before going to the airport.

When Uncle Man came to visit me this morning, I gave him a big fat hug and refused to let go of him. I guess I will have to wait a while before I get to meet him again.

This was the book that kept me entertained during the flight. It came with a clear marker but when you colour the white pictures in the book, the pictures will change colour accordingly.

We skipped Tien Hsia again. This is the third time this term that we skipped Tien Hsia. Emak said her "maternal instincts" prompted her not to allow me to go to school this week as she does not want me to fall sick before our Disneyland trip. Ayah was of course more than willing to skip school and so we dragged Nenek out of the house to go shopping with us.

We didn't buy anything much, just a thermos flask, a water bottle, an air-tight container for my milk. As usual, Emak managed to con Nenek into buying me new clothes. Hahaha!

After we were done with the shopping, we went to Far East Plaza to look for ayam penyet.Nenek told us that she has heard about this ayam penyet for a while and would like to have a taste of it so we called Tanter to ask her for the location of the eating place. She told us to look for this place called "Ayam Penyet Ria" on the 2nd floor of Far East Plaza. We went round the place twice but we still could not find it. Emak called Tanter again to ask her exactly where it was and we were told it was next to a Malay barber. We looked again but to no avail. Then Tanter called to tell us it was on the 4th floor, not 2nd. So round the 4th floor we went, TWICE, but we still could not find it. Then we tried the 5th floor and still nothing. THEN, Tanter called and told us THAT IT IS ACTUALLY AT LUCKY PLAZA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By then, we had lost our moods and couldn't be bothered to go to Lucky Plaza and decided to just settle for whatever we could get.

And that's the ayam penyet everyone keeps talking about!!!! What's the big deal???? It's just ayam goreng with sambal belacan!!!

After all that stress, I thought of doing everyone a favour by driving them home.
But I lost my way and had to check for directions.

But I suspect the street directory was mocking my chipped tooth when it "reminded" me of my dental appointment!

We were late for class yesterday and as a result, I had breakfast in the car while listening to some boring music Ayah played on the CD player. Although it was not my kind of music, I still tried to move to the rhythm nonetheless.

After class, we went to Marina South Pier to purchase tickets to a cruise and Ayah decided to check out the place as it was our first time there. It had a rooftop garden where you get to see the boats and ships very clearly and I got to do my "makcik kaypoh" walk on sloping ground. Haha!

Saturday, August 05, 2006

And this is what I have been up to. I keep going into my uncles' sty..I mean room.. and will climb up and down the bed. Well, actually I can only climb up. Haven't figured out how to get down yet and that was how I fell! We were having an afternoon nap yesterday but I woke up, without Nenek's and Emak's knowledge, and climbed up the bed! Both Emak and Nenek were in their own rooms and they were woken up by a really loud thud and the sound of my cries. When they found me in my uncles' room, I was crying and rubbing my head. Nenek dragged me out of the room and closed the door but I kept banging on the door as I still wanted to continue climbing! Ayah still doesn't know this happened as Emak forgot to tell him. We will just let him read it here because that means we will have a couple more days before we get a scolding. Hehe.

Nenek showed me Uncle Man's picture yesterday and she was quite shocked at my reaction because I touched the picture and I cried! Uncle Man called to tell us to postpone our trip because of the bad weather there but we've already paid for the tickets and the hotel!!! Hope the weather gets better very soon.

Wednesday, August 02, 2006

I've been sick. Mucus just keeps flowing out uncontrollably from my nostrils and today, I started coughing slightly. Nenek and Emak think that I miss Uncle Man because I always keep asking Nenek about him. I will go to Nenek and ask for "abang" (which is what Nenek calls Uncle Man) and when someone asks me where Uncle Man is, I will say "abang". Uncle Man just called again to reassure Nenek that he is fine. Nenek is constantly worried about Uncle Man and she will keep asking Emak and Uncle Larry if Uncle Man messaged them.

Now Emak is also sick. She's having a running nose and her throat feels like it's burning. We really need to get well quickly as we will be visiting Uncle Man next week!!!

P.S Congratulations to Ayah for achieving marksmanship for his shooting test, a prelude to reservist.
